Louisburg, KS, United States
The Needle Nest is owned by three great friends, Donna, Jeanette, and Rhonda, and Charlie the shop dog. It's located in Louisburg, Kansas, a small town a few minutes south of Overland Park, KS at the U.S. 69 Highway and Highway 68 exit and just west of Old Metcalf. You'll find bolts and bolts of quality quilting fabric and trims, quilting books, batting, notions and quilt kits; anything and everything related to quilting. You'll also find a wide assortment of eclectic yarns, some crafted in Miami County, Kansas by a local artist. Knitted samples abound, as well as various knitting supplies, books and kits for many different knitting projects. There's always something a little different to find in the nooks and crannies, so be sure to take some time to browse around inside. The shop offers beginning, intermediate and advanced classes for quilting, knitting and spinning, and there's always plenty of advice and assistance, no matter what type of project. Smiles and laughter are always free!

Some Things We Like to Do

GOOD DEEDS
We began our “Good Samaritan” project in July, 2007. We meet once a week to make scarves of predominately red yarns for female heart patients in area hospitals. Patterns are free, and yarn chosen from a special basket will be discounted 40% off. Or, bring your own--the only requirement is that it be mostly red!

THAT’S ENTERTAINMENT!
The Coop Group meets the third Tuesday of each month from 6PM to 9PM. We gather for knitting/quilting handwork and share pizza and laughter. Join us for some fun! We might even start having chick flicks when the weather turns cold!

CLASSES
We offer both quilting and knitting classes. If you don't see what you want/need on our calendar, please let us know, and we'll try to accommodate you! We have many talented instructors with years of experience, and we always have fun when we're together. Why, we even get some things finished!

Examples of recent classes in quilting have been 6-minute circles, paper piecing, and beginning quilting. Knitting instructions have included lacy market bags, felting, purses, scarves, sweaters, socks, as well as two different spinning classes - drop spindle and wheel.

Knitters can join the Sock Sorority and for an hour twice each month work on a different sock pattern. Check the calendar for dates.

Knitiot's Club is also an on-going class that can be joined anytime. Each session a new stitch pattern is made to make a square, and by the end of the year, an afghan is born! Check the class schedule for meeting times and price.

KNITTING RETREAT
